עַם פֶּסַח

The Passover colour scheme Level 1

The colour scheme has been devised to make it easy to follow various threads, through the four gospels.

Key to the colour scheme:

Pale blue – sections of the “story” that are not actually concerned with passover but which precede Passover and help to locate the Passover event in the wider text of each gospel. They also help to show that the passover event sits with integrity in each gospel.

Dark blue – references to Passover, prior to the First day of Unleavened Bread

Dark orange – First Day of unleavened bread, the day for sacrificing the Passover lamb

Light orange – accounts of the passover meal. Notice how each gospel describes it differently

Light green – post meal sections of the “story”. Sometimes these are set within the upper room, sometimes they are set on the walk to the Mount of Olives and include the capture of Jesus at the hands of Judas

Dark green – Jesus is taken to the Chief or High Priests, Sanhedrin or Council, where they interrogate Jesus until dawn

Light purple – As soon as it is morning/dawn Jesus is taken by them to Pilate for trial by the Roman and State authorities – Pilate and Herod (Head of State). Also includes events following the crucifixion

Dark purple – The crucifixion of Jesus

Dark red – afternoon prior to Sunset, still the day of preparation for Sabbath

Pink – events between entombment and dawn on the first day of the week

Yellow- Sabbath is over, it is the first day of the week, and women come with special spices. The sun has risen and they find him gone from the tomb

All instances of the word of Passover are high-lighted in Bold.
